Every AI vendor claims their model is “the best.” That claim is meaningless without a task attached. At O.N.E Agency we run ChatGPT (GPT-5.1), Claude (Sonnet 5), and Gemini (3 Pro) across actual client deliverables every week — not benchmarks. Here’s what we’ve settled on after months of this.

Writing and editing

For long-form writing — proposals, reports, client-facing copy — Claude consistently produces text that needs the least editing. It holds a consistent voice across a long document without repeating the same three sentence structures every paragraph, which is the tell that gives away AI-written copy to both readers and, increasingly, Google.

ChatGPT is close behind and faster for short-form work — social captions, subject lines, quick rewrites. Gemini’s writing is the most generic of the three in our tests; usable as a first draft, but it needs the heaviest rewriting before it goes to a client.

Our pick for writing: Claude. ChatGPT for anything short and fast-turnaround.

Coding and debugging

This is where the gap is widest for us. Claude Code handles multi-file refactors and debugging sessions with far fewer hallucinated APIs or invented function signatures than the alternatives. ChatGPT is capable but loses context faster in long sessions on larger codebases. Gemini is fast and cheap but had the highest rate of confidently wrong answers in our own testing, especially with less common libraries.

Research and up-to-date information

Gemini’s integration with Search and Workspace is a genuine advantage if your team lives in Docs, Sheets, and Gmail — it pulls context we’d otherwise paste in manually. For pure research quality, all three are roughly comparable, with ChatGPT’s browsing slightly ahead on breadth of sources checked.

Data analysis

ChatGPT’s Advanced Data Analysis is still the most mature tool for uploading a spreadsheet and getting a chart back without writing a formula. Claude is more careful about not silently dropping rows or misreading date formats — a real problem we hit with Gemini on a messy client CSV export.

What we actually pay for

We run Claude as our primary tool for anything client-facing or code-heavy, and keep ChatGPT for the shorter, more varied work across the team. That’s two subscriptions, not one — the tasks genuinely differ enough that dropping either one leaves a visible gap in how fast we can move.
